Anti-Semitism in France has been at a high since the Tolouse school murders nearly two years ago. As recently as January, French protesters chanted openly anti-Semitic slogans, calling for Jews to get out of France. Of all nations, France has the highest immigration rate to Israel.
The New Mexico Jewish Historical Society, in partnership with the Santa Fe Jewish Film Festival presents "French Jewry: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow" with Dr. Robert Zaretsky, Professor of Modern European History, University of Houston, and author of France and its Empire Since 1870 (Oxford 2010). Dr. Zaretsky will address the situation of French Jewry in today's challenging climate. This program will be an especially interesting follow up to those who have seen the recent screening of Being Jewish in France, but should be of interest to all.
Presented by the New Mexico Jewish Historical Society in association with the Santa Fe Jewish Film Festival.
